After our river trip on Thursday Class 20 created river scenes using paints. Our finished masterpieces are ready to be displayed on our wall, and we enjoyed exploring this medium.

Our Trip to the River
After postponing a few times due to bad weather, Team 1 had our trip to the river last Thursday. Class 20 had an amazing time enjoying the sand before lunch - creating some wonderful sandcastles and collecting shells. After lunch under the trees, we enjoyed the sports gear and the playground before heading back to school. Check out some of the images from our day and all the fun we had:

Creating River Scenes
As part of our immersion week for Art Attack, this week Class 20 have created River Scenes using crayon and dye. Our finished masterpieces are on display in our classroom and corridor. It was great to see the attention to detail that the learners displayed with both the crayon and dye, although it was definitely using the dye that was the highlight!
Check out the learners as they worked their artistic magic in this short video and don't forget to view the finished masterpieces in our classroom.

Making a healthy snack
As part of our "Game On" integrated unit, today we created a healthy snack. Last week we brainstormed why we needed to eat healthy foods and what we could make. Today we made fruit kebabs (and Class 20 got to eat them when they had made them!)
Check out some images from our session today! We look forward to adding more detail to our Class blog over the next few days as we continue to discuss and write about what we did today!

Fun at Lloyd Elsmore
As part of our Game On integrated unit, today the whole of Team 1 took a trip to the Lloyd Elsmore track. All our learners had an amazing experience and enjoyed activities such as:
- Relay races
- Sack races
- Egg and spoon race
- Sprints
- Sock throw
Medals were awarded in some events. Here are some of the winners from Class 20:
We were extremely lucky with the weather (although it was a little cold) and everyone enjoyed the bus trip and participating in the games. Over the next few weeks in class we look forward to using these experiences in our classroom discussions and writing. Check out some of the experiences here:

What Makes a Champion?
This term we are looking at "What Makes a Champion" as we learn about the Commonwealth countries, the Commonwealth Games and how we can all be champions.
Our PENN movie this term focuses on some of the things we have been doing, and the responses Class 20 gave when we asked them "What Makes a Champion?"

Healthy Lunchboxes
As part of our integrated learning this term, we are thinking about "What makes a Champion?" Yesterday we were thinking about eating healthy as being one thing that a champion does. We came up with some great ideas for a healthy lunch box. Class 20 used Explain Everything to draw a picture of what healthy things they'd like in their lunch box and then talked about their pictures. Check out some of the great examples:

QR codes open up our world
As part of our Integrated Learning this term, we're exploring other countries in the Commonwealth. Our topic wall contains QR (Quick Response codes) with links to the site which Mrs Belt created, to assist our learning about the countries and sports of the Commonwealth Games. After learning how to use QR codes with our iPads yesterday, today it was a chance for the learners to explore the site! The QR codes were a huge success and most of the class did not want to stop exploring when it was time to pack up!
Scanning the QR codes on the wall:
Having a look at the pages of the sites:

Waffle Magic ....
This term Class 20 are learning to "Work Smarter, Not Harder" and are looking at all the equipment in the kitchen that has been designed to make our lives easier. Today we made waffles in the classroom. First we unpacked the equipment that we would use and the learners took photographs of this equipment in Explain Everything. They used their stylus to write the name of the equipment underneath each photo.
After morning tea we made some waffles. The learners took turns using the measuring equipment and adding ingredients to the mixing bowls, following the recipe. Class 20 decided that an electric beater made it easier to mix the batter than a whisk. Arkar said that it was really hard to mix using the whisk. All the learners agreed that cooking waffles was a lot of fun, but that eating the waffles was the best part!!
After lunch the students took photos of the ingredients, and again added the word underneath each photo. They then used Explain Everything to create a picture of themselves making the waffles and talked about their pictures. Here is an example from today's great learning:
