Counting Down to Christmas

With just one month until the big day,  today we were writing about Christmas.  Here are some of the amazing stories our class wrote today:

I can't wait for Christmas because Santa gives us presents.  I want my present to be a teddy bear from Santa.

In the morning Kahurangi and I got to go with the seniors in a big bus to the film festival.  I Iiked going on the big stage with Kahurangi .

Sharing our fireworks experiences

The learners in Class 20 were keen to share their fireworks experiences.  We spent several days writing stories about what we did, and created some great art works on the iPads by using a black background as a starting point.  Here are some examples of our work:

Happy Halloween!

Class 20 has been asking to write about Halloween for the past few days.  They were able to contribute some amazing ideas and have created some great stories unsupported!

I like dressing up as a skeleton because it is fun and because you can scare everyone.

The river

I drew a picture of the river and on my picture was a green tree. Today we are going to dye my picture with Mrs Belt and Ms George.

Art Attack

Earlier this week Class 20 wrote about the Art Attack immersion assembly which we all really enjoyed.  Here is a sample of our writing:

Writing on the iPads

Some learners in Class 20 used the iPad to create a story.  This was an 'extra' activity and they had a free choice about what to write about.

Wet lunchtime creations

Its the first day of spring, but unfortunately the weather hasn't quite caught up.  Due to the rain, Class 20 spent lunchtime inside, making some creations with the blocks.

We have created a farm.  We worked together to make a farm.  "I saw Nature was working on it by herself so I came and helped her."   It was fun working together.

Healthy Lunchboxes

As part of our integrated learning this term, we are thinking about "What makes a Champion?"   Yesterday we were thinking about eating healthy as being one thing that a champion does.  We came up with some great ideas for a healthy lunch box.  Class 20 used Explain Everything to draw a picture of what healthy things they'd like in their lunch box and then talked about their pictures.  Check out some of the great examples:

Our Weekend

I went to the movies with my cousin and my family.  My weekend was amazing.  I went to my Nana's house.

Celebrating our week :)

All the students in Class 20 have been working really hard this week!  We've done some amazing learning in all areas and would like to share some of that with our readers!

Holly created an amazing picture of a giraffe, after seeing one on our trip to the Zoo in week 1 :)  Holly has only been at school 3 weeks!

Oalii did some amazing addition learning in maths :)

 

Phoenix made a terrific effort with reading the book "Going to the Beach".  Mrs Belt rewarded her with some stickers.  Here is her follow up activity :)

Fia Fia Follow Up

WOW!  What an amazing night Fia Fia was on Wednesday.  We hope to have some photos to share via the blog shortly.

Today we talked about the performance, and the students then used their iPads to draw a picture of themselves on the stage and talk about their picture as they created.

Today Class 20 talked about our great weekends and we wrote stories about what we did.  Some students used the iPads to record their stories.

I made a rocket house today. It's going to go to the moon. Ms George thought it might be going to my magenta coloured star!
