Fun at Lloyd Elsmore

As part of our Game On integrated unit, today the whole of Team 1 took a trip to the Lloyd Elsmore track.  All our learners had an amazing experience and enjoyed activities such as:

  • Relay races
  • Sack races
  • Egg and spoon race
  • Sprints
  • Sock throw
Medals were awarded in some events.  Here are some of the winners from Class 20:

We were extremely lucky with the weather (although it was a little cold) and everyone enjoyed the bus trip and participating in the games.  Over the next few weeks in class we look forward to using these experiences in our classroom discussions and writing.  Check out some of the experiences here:

What Makes a Champion?

This term we are looking at "What Makes a Champion" as we learn about the Commonwealth countries, the Commonwealth Games and how we can all be champions.

Our PENN movie this term focuses on some of the things we have been doing, and the responses Class 20 gave when we asked them "What Makes a Champion?"

Amazing Writers!

This week we've selected two writers who have done an amazing job!

Luisa's story was all her own ideas and she located the words herself.

I like to draw a gold medal.

Arkar's story was created completely independently and also his own ideas.

I go on an adventure to see a crocodile.

Healthy Lunchboxes

As part of our integrated learning this term, we are thinking about "What makes a Champion?"   Yesterday we were thinking about eating healthy as being one thing that a champion does.  We came up with some great ideas for a healthy lunch box.  Class 20 used Explain Everything to draw a picture of what healthy things they'd like in their lunch box and then talked about their pictures.  Check out some of the great examples:

Learning the Poi with Whaea Saff

After learning a great waiata last week, today Whaea Saff bought some poi for Class 20 to use today.  It was great to hear how the poi were made by Whaea Saff and her family and it made us appreciate them more and be extra careful as we used them.  Class 20 really enjoyed the session and there were many requests for Whaea Saff to bring the poi again next week!  Check out these photos of us using the poi today:
